PROTOTYPE AND BACKGROUND INFO:

Starting in the 1960’s, insulated boxcars started to become common onmost railroads. This type of car was useful for hauling canned goodsor other commodities that needed to be protected from temperatureextremes. The model depicted by this Athearn Genesis car was builtby Pacific Car & Foundry and features different side panel constructionand door types per prototype. The cars also feature a detailed cushionunderframe and full brake rigging.
